Modbus implementation in HMI display

I am working on a Modbus setup where the PLC is the master and the HMI is the slave.
My requirement is to read a float value from the PLC(Master) and write/display it on the HMI(Slave), but i could not see any changes in display which indicates there is no Modbus Communication Between PLC and HMI.I am new to this HMI software.I could not find any tutorial in Official documentaion related to modbus setup like Visual TFT,they given only for LUA script.
Could anyone share a sample project or a simple working example(link) ?
